Switzerland
Switzerland will be the underdogs in Group B at the European Championship, starting on June 12, where they face France, England and Croatia.
Swiss coach Koebi Kuhn was hit with a double problem when in-form target man Marco Streller broke his leg and fellow striker Leonard Thurre suffered a calf muscle injury.
Kuhn's final squad must be named immediately after the Germany friendly before a final friendly against Liechtenstein on June 6.
Ludovic Magnin is vying with Basel's experienced centre-back Marco Zwissig and young Auxerre defender Stephane Grichting for two places on the flight to Portugal.
One of four midfielders -- Ricardo Cabanas, Benjamin Huggel, Johann Lonfat and Daniel Gygax -- will miss out as will either Leonard Thurre or Milaim Rama among the forwards.
