Greece coach Otto Rehhagel kept his word and named most of the players who earned Euro 2004 qualification by winning their final six matches in his squad.
He had said earlier this year the majority of players who topped Group 6 in qualifying would go to Portugal.
The German announced his 23-man squad a day after the end of the Greek championship, won by Panathinaikos.
Rehhagel called up Panathinaikos striker Dimitris Papadopoulos, who was the league’s second-highest scorer with 17 goals despite a two-month injury break during the winter.
Rehhagel did not include Eintracht Frankfurt striker Yannis Amanatidis, who had been recalled for earlier friendlies, and resisted pressure to include Olympiakos’ Ieroklis Stoltidis and Monaco’s Akis Zikos.
