Sensex drops 21 points at close

The Sensex on Tuesday opened 6 points lower at 5,117. It touched an intra-day low of 4,976 in mid-morning deals following broad-based selling.
The index recovered later, touching an intra-day high of 5,144 towards the closing hours.
However, the Sensex finally closed with a loss of 21 points at 5,102. The Nifty ended 2 points lower at 1,607.
Reliance ended the day with a modest gain of Rs 2 at Rs 456. HLL added 2.5% (Rs 3) to Rs 142. ITC gained marginally to end at Rs 924.
Both Infosys and Wipro were up nearly a percent each at Rs 5,359 and Rs 1,620, respectively. Satyam was down nearly 2% (Rs 6) to Rs
HPCL dropped 4% (Rs 14) to Rs 320. ONGC zoomed 3.25% (Rs 23) to Rs 732.
SBI was down a rupee at Rs 539. MTNL was down a tad at Rs 124.50. BHEL dropped 1.5% (Rs 7) to close at Rs 458.
Gujarat Ambuja added 1.5% (Rs 4.50) to Rs 310. Grasim was up marginally at Rs 1,105.50. ACC was down a tad at Rs 261.
Cipla was down 1.5% (Rs 4) at Rs 251. Dr.Reddy's was up half a percent at Rs 875. Ranbaxy was down nearly a percent at Rs 1,010.
Reliance Energy dropped 5% (Rs 27) to Rs 553.
Bharti Tele-Ventures was down nearly 3% (Rs 4) at Rs 150.
HDFC dropped 3% to Rs 566 while HDFC Bank was up a tad at Rs 370.
Hero Honda was up a percent at Rs 481. Bajaj Auto added half a percent to Rs 880. Maruti dropped 4% (Rs 19) to close at Rs 455.
Hindalco dropped a percent to close at Rs 962. ICICI Bank was down 3.3% (Rs 9) at Rs 258.
