CPI-M inciting communalism in Tripura: Jogi
February 22, 2003 18:04 IST
Chhattishgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi on Saturday charged the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tripura with inciting one community against the other in the state.
He said the Congress was trying to unite all opposition secular parties of the country including the Left party to fight the 'communal' National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre.
"The CPI-M is inciting one section of people against another for their narrow political ends, but we are also taking them along with all secular forces to fight against the NDA government which is communal in nature," Jogi said.
He alleged that the rule of law had been replaced by rule of the jungle in Tripura where virtual anarchy prevailed with no safety and security to the lives and properties of people.
Jogi alleged that the state, despite having huge natural resources, could not attract big investment due to the anarchic conditions and cadre raj of the CPI-M prevailing in the state.
He expressed hope that the people of Tripura would install a government led by the Congress and its ally, the Indigenous Nationalist Party Of Tripura, in the ensuing assembly elections slated for February 26.
Jogi said the CPI-M was blaming the Congress for forging an alliance with the INPT whom they call an overground organisation of an underground, armed outfit because they know that their days were numbered in Tripura.
