Rehana Begum lives in Dharavi -- Asia’s biggest slum -- near the Mahim station. And for many like her, the terrorist attacks meant all the men in the family had to go out and help fellow Mumbaikars.
"Our boys were helping carry the injured and the dead. I gave them blankets and sheets to cover the victims," she says.
Like any mother in the world, though, she wanted to shield her youngest children from the horror of Tuesday's attacks. "I kept my small kids at home."
Her son Syed Ayub (left) was out there with others, helping carry the injured and the dead. And he has many a nightmarish sight to recall.
"One lady had jumped out of the train after the blast. She was run over by a train on the next track," Ayub says.
"We helped carry the injured to the road. We put them into cabs, vans and lorries. The police removed the dead bodies."
