Vicky John D'Souza is a porter at Matunga Road station. His strong shoulders came in handy when tragedy struck.
"We wrenched the seats from the train and used them as stretchers," he says.
The horror of the tragedy still haunts him, and when he talks about what he and others like him had to go through on Tuesday, it makes you shudder.
"Carrying out the dead was very difficult. One person's hand came off when we tried to lift his dead body. Most of the victims were mangled beyond recognition," he says.
"Some of the injured we sent to Sion Hospital, others we sent to the Bhabha Hospital. Later, the police and the fire brigade came. They chased us away," he adds.
