Mandal had been abducted from Vaishali district in Bihar on November 19. He was released late on Friday evening and allowed to board a train near Kushinagar station in Uttar Pradesh to travel to Delhi, Union Minister for Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh told PTI. He reached his residence in south Delhi on Saturday morning safely, NHPC chairman-cum-managing director Yogendra Prasad told PTI. "I have talked to him and he is safe. He is very happy," Prasad said.
NHPC general manager (project) T Mandal and his colleague chief engineer K K Singh had been abducted when they were travelling to Bettiah to attend a meeting.
Singh had been freed unharmed by a police team on November 26 following a raid at a hideout in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district.
