There was no word on the fate of the other abductee, NHPC General Manager (Projects) T Mandal, Mishra added.

Singh and Mandal were abducted on November 19 from a place in Vaishali district, when they were travelling to Bettiah to attend a meeting.

The abductors had on Tuesday called up the residences of Singh and Mandal in Delhi demanding Rs 5 crore each as ransom.

The hideouts of several criminals, including those of two controversial Lok Janshakti Party legislators, Rajan Tiwari and Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla, had been raided several times in the past few days in connection with the case.
