Indira Gandhi Prize to UN, Annan

The United Nations and its Secretary General Kofi Annan have been jointly awarded the 2003 International Indira Gandhi Prize for peace, disarmament and development.

K Natwar Singh, Vice Chairman of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust, made the announcement on Thursday in Delhi.

President A P J Abdul Kalam had on Wednesday presented the year 2002 award to former Commonwealth secretary general Sir Shridath Ramphal at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
