C P Thakur threatens to sue Laloo
May 22, 2003 19:30 IST
Union minister C P Thakur on Thursday threatened to sue Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Laloo Prasad Yadav for linking his name with the abduction of a neurosurgeon, Dr Ramesh Chandra, in Patna.
The RJD chief was indulging in 'character assassination' in a 'systematic way', he said.
He said he had already apprised Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu of the episode and would meet Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his deputy Lal Kishenchand Advani in a day or two.
Police had rescued Dr Chandra from Chiraura village under Naubatpur police station early Wednesday. Later, the RJD chief said the abductors had close ties with Thakur.
"Bihar has gone to dogs and it is now reduced to a sleeping state. The development has come to a naught and there is chaos and anarchy everywhere. The only industry that is thriving in Bihar is kidnapping and murder," Thakur alleged.
The BJP, he said, would soon launch a 'Vikas Yatra' to rebuild the state.
