Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Saturday said Bangladesh has been firmly told to curb infiltration and prevent Inter-Services Intelligence agents operating from its soil from carrying out terrorist activities in India.

At a Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting of the home ministry at the Border Security Force academy in Teranpur, Madhya Pradesh, he said Indian reservations on the issue, which led to border tension between the two countries recently, were conveyed to the Bangladesh foreign minister during his visit to the capital.

The Bangladeshi minister gave an assurance that his country would take necessary steps in this regard, Advani told those who attended the meeting, according to Minister of State for Home Affairs I D Swami.

The deputy PM also told them that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf was under tremendous international pressure, but was not doing enough to check cross-border terrorism.
