Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has brushed aside the fears expressed by some legislators on the recently unearthed militant-police nexus saying he 'reposed immense trust' in the J&K police

"One bad fish should not be allowed to malign the entire organisation. I trust the integrity of the J&K police and hope they will unearth other similar nexus too," he said. "Being sons of soil they have a vital role in facing the situation."

Referring to the turnaround of situation in militancy-infested Punjab, he said "Local police has always an edge in such volatile situations."

"Things have started looking up ever since Sharma (Director General of J&K Police) took the charge of the organisation," he added.

Urging gun-totting youth to 'appreciate the futility of the gun' Sayeed said, "Democracy is the battle of ideas."

"Those who cannot win others through the strength of their ideology take recourse to gun and silencing others. Those indulging in spilling innocents' blood in the mistaken belief of fighting for the so-called Azadi must read writing on the wall."
