Arif Mohammed Khan, a Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorist, was killed in an encounter with the Delhi police at Nazafgarh, Joint Commissioner (Special Cell) Neeraj Kumar said on Thursday.

He said Khan, whose real name was Abdul Aziz, was a resident of Bhawa in Pakistan.

The terrorist had come to India two-and-a-half years ago and was changing places quite often before buying a plot and constructing a small house in Najafgarh, he said.

The terrorist had married a local girl with his assumed identity and managed to procure a driving licence and a ration card, he added.

The police found an A-K 47, four magazines, 92 rounds and six hand grenades at the site of the encounter, Kumar said.

"The militant was acting as a sleeping agent for LeT in the national capital and we suspect involvement of some more persons," he added.

Recently, Lashkar chief Hafiz Mohammed Sayeed had directed his men in Pakistan to carry out attacks in Delhi.
