Congress leaders take stock of programmes

Shahid K Abbas in New Delhi | June 04, 2003 00:17 IST

Pradesh Congress committee chiefs on Tuesday in New Delhi took stock of the programmes assigned to different state and block units by party chief Sonia Gandhi.

The three-hour session also focused on the need for stepping up the organisational activities of the party.

The leaders chalked out a six-phase programme to reach out to the people. They also ratified the party's earlier decision to carry out Kranti Diwas between August 9 and 15 and intensify the membership drive of the party.

It was also decided that party legislators will contribute a month's salary towards party kitty, while the PCC and AICC delegates will contribute Rs 1,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

AICC treasurer Motilal Vohra and AICC general secretary Oscar Fernandes were among those present for the meeting.
