** Scott Styris became the 34th New Zealander and the 258th player in LOIs to appear in 50 or more matches.
** The 80 run partnership between Scott Styris and Lou Vincent was New Zealand's best for the 5th wicket at this venue, bettering the previous best of 59 runs between Roger Twose and Adam Parore against Pakistan on 23-12-1995.
** The unbeaten partnership of 53 runs is the 15th of 50-plus for the 10th wicket in LOIs. This was New Zealand's only third 50-plus partnership for the last wicket. The best for the home team still remains as the 65 put on by Martin Snedden and Ewan Chatfield against Sri Lanka at Derby on 18-6-1983. The other such partnership was the 50 put on by Kyle Mills and Shane Bond against Australia at Colombo earlier last year on 15-9-2002.
** Incidentally this was by far the biggest partnership for the last wicket on New Zealand soil. The previous best was the 33 between the home team's Lee Germon and Danny Morrison against Pakistan at Wellington on 20-12-1995.
** The above partnership was the only second 50-plus stand against India in LOIs. The best still remains as the 71 between West Indians Andy Roberts and Joel Garner at Manchester on 9-6-1983. However the Vincent-Bond partnership was the best for New Zealand against India for the last wicket. Scott Styris and Chris Drum had put on 46 at Hyderabad on 8-11-1999.
** Bond's unbeaten 31 was his highest score of his career in his 18th match. His previous highest was the 26 he made against Australia at Colombo on 15-9-2002.
** Bond's score was the second highest by a New Zealand number 11 after the unbeaten 34 by Chris Pringle against West Indies at Guwahati on 1-11-1994. Bond also made the second highest score by a number 11 against India after the 37 by West Indian Joel Garner at Manchester on 9-6-1983.
** Bond however made the highest score by number 11 in New Zealand. The previous highest was the 21 by Willie Watson against Australia at Dunedin on 19-3-1993.
** Javagal Srinath's bowling analysis of 10-2-13-3 (R/o: 1.30) was the third most economical by an Indian bowler bowling at least 10 overs in a match. The best two economical performances came from Bishan Bedi (12-8-6-1 R/o: 0.50 - against East Africa at Leeds on 11-6-1975) and Sunil Joshi (10-6-6-5 R/o: 0.60 - against South Africa at Nairobi on 26-9-1999).
** The partership of 70 runs between Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag was the India's best at Auckland for the first wicket. The pair surpassed the previous best of 61 runs between Ajay Jadeja and Sachin Tendulkar on 27-3-1994.
** The wicket of Tendulkar was Daryl Tuffey's 50th of his career in his 43rd match. He becomes the 16th New Zealander and the 136th bowler in LOIs to reach this landmark.
** Shewag who scored his 5th LOI hundred of his career in his 56th match, recorded his second hundred in the Kiwiland. He now joins a select band of visiting batsmen in New Zealand who have the distinction of scoring two or more three figure innings. West Indian Gordon Greenidge has three, while Pakistani Rameez Raja, Australians Dean Jones & Adam Gilchrist, South Africa Jacques Kallis and now Sehwag have two hundreds each in New Zealand against the home team.
** Incidentally, Sehwag's 112 was the highest by an Indian batsman at this venue obliterating the previous best of 82 by Tendulkar on 27-3-1994.
** Meanwhile Sehwag just failed to better the highest individual score made by a visiting batsman at this venue, which still remains as the 116 not out by Australian Damian Martyn on 3-3-2000.
** This win was India's narrowest in LOIs in terms of wickets. Prior to this match India have achieved wins by 2 wickets on six other occasions.
** Meanwhile this was New Zealand's fifth defeat by the margin of one wicket in LOIs. The team had lost to Pakistan (in 1984), Australia (in 1993), West Indies (in 1996) and Zimbabwe (in 2001) by a margin of one wicket.
