** India now shares the unique distinction with the home team by
appearing in all LOI venues in New Zealand, with the exception of
New Plymouth (the only game played here was the World Cup match
between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on 23-2-1992). Both New Zealand,
the home team and India have now appeared in rest of the nine
cricket ODI venues in New Zealand.

** Sachin Tendulkar is making a comeback to the side after a short
break. During this period he had missed 11 matches. Only once
before Tendulkar had missed the same number of matches - from
19-1-1999 to 16-4-1999 - the maximum he has done so in his career
spanning 301 matches.

** Stephen Fleming (19) when on 12, became the second New
Zealander (after Nathan Astle- 5337 runs) and the 38th batsman in
LOI history to aggregate 5000 runs. Fleming now has 5007 runs in
187 matches.

** The catch of Sehwag was Fleming's 88th of his career, which
makes him the leading fielder with most catches for New Zealand in
LOIs. He went past the tally of 87 matches of teammate Chris
Harris (in 217 matches). Later in the match, Fleming claimed one
more catch to take his tally to 89 catches in 187 matches.

** The duck was Tendulkar's 14th of his career in 301 matches.
Among Indians now only Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath have more
career ducks - 17 each! Incidentally, his last duck before this
one came on 7-7-2001 against the West Indies during the final of
the tri series at Harare. It was then his 273rd match.

** Anil Kumble's unusual dismissal makes him the only second
Indian after Nayan Mongia (against Pakistan at Sharjah on
7-4-1995) to be out "hit-wicket" in LOIs. Kumble in fact became
the only third batsman after Sri Lankan Romesh Kaluwitharana (in
1998) and Zimbabwean Guy Whittall (in 2000) to be dismissed in
this manner against New Zealand.

** Incidentally only two other batsman both New Zealanders John
Wright (in 1983 at Napier) and Adam Parore (in 2000 at Dunedin) -
have been dismissed 'hit-wicket' on Kiwi soil. Kumble is now the
third!

** The unbeaten 34 was Zaheer Khan's highest score of his career
in his 54th match. His previous highest was the unbeaten 32 he
made against Zimbabwe at Jodhpur 8-12-2000.

** Meanwhile Zaheer (3-30 and 34 not out) became the only fourth
Indian all-rounder to score over 30 runs and take three or more
wickets against New Zealand in the same match. The others being
Ravi Shastri (53 & 3-31 at Sydney in 1985), Kris Srikkanth (70 &
5-27 in 1988) and Manoj Prabhakar (35 & 3-37 at Wellington in
1990).

** This win was one of India's closest, in terms of wickets
against New Zealand. Only twice before - at Baroda on 17-12-1988
and at Napier on 12-1-1999 - India had beaten New Zealand by a
close margin of two wickets!

** This was Zaheer Khan's second man of the match award of his
career in 54 matches. His only other such award came against
Zimbabwe at Sharjah on 22-10-2000, for his bowling performance of
3-37.
