Malcolm Marshall to undergo surgeryWest Indies coach Malcolm Marshall will have exploratory abdominal surgery in Birmingham, England, on Saturday. The West Indies Cricket Board said Marshall, 41, has had a stomach complaint for several months and has been advised by doctors to undergo surgery. He will be away from the West Indies World Cup team for an unspecified period. "He's had a complaint for some time and has been seeing doctors for some time, I think since the South Africa tour or a little before," chief executive Stephen Camacho said on yesterday.
West Indies lost their opening match against Pakistan and play Bangladesh on Friday. Camacho said he did not expect Marshall's absence to have a negative effect on the team.
