'We need to get back to winning ways', says Aravinda

Sri Lankan batting star Aravinda D'Silva said that unless the reigning world champions returned to their winning ways, they would have to face difficulties in the forthcoming World Cup championship .

Before their departure for Nagpur to play against hosts India in the second match of the tri-nation limited over tournament, the Lankan vice captain said, ''However, I hope things will take a turn for the better once the regulars like opener Sanath Jayasurya, spinner Muthiah Muralitharan and wicket-keeper Romesh Kaluwitharna are back in the squad''.

He said it was because of pain in groin region that he was run out in their last match against Pakistan while they were very close to victory.

After the World Cup win in early 1996, Lanka have played 78 one-dayers, with 42 wins and 32 losses. Sri Lanka has lost 13 of their last fifteen one day internationals.

Meanwhile, Lankan manager Ranjit Fernando has criticised the travel arrangements made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for the participating teams.

''We came here to Calcutta on Saturday morning from Jamshedpur and were forced to unnecessarily waste a day here. By the time we would reach Nagpur, there won't be enough time to have a look at the pitch, leave aside practice at the nets there," he complained.
