Statistical Highlights 11th match: Pakistan v Scotland at Chester-le-Street, 20-5-1999

•This match was the 1453rd in Limited over international (LOI) history.

•This match was the 169th in World Cup history

•This match was Pakistan's 427th and Scotland's 2nd in LOIs.

•This match was Pakistan's 39th and Scotland's 2nd in the WC.

•This was first meeting between the two sides.

•Curiously enough, there were 13 players in this match who were born in Pakistan. Scottish players Asim Butt and Alec Davies were born at Lahore and Rawalpindi respectively.

•Ian Stanger became the 12th player to appear for Scotland.

•Riverside Ground at Chester-le-Street (Durham) became the 114th city and 128th ground to host a LOI match. It was England's 20th city/town and 21st international ground. This ground has been designed with the aim of becoming a Test Match venue. The extensive site will be venue of a variety of other sports including tennis, hockey, rugby, athletics and American Football amongst others, and there are also plans for a nature reserve and family housing.

•Saqlain Mushtaq became the 17th Pakistani and 92nd player in LOIs to appear in 100 matches.

•The partnership of 103 between Yousuf Youhana and Moin Khan was Pakistan's only second hundred-plus partnership in LOIs for the sixth wicket. The best still remains as 144 runs put on by Imran Khan and Shahid Mahboob against Sri Lanka at Leeds on 16-6-1983 which was also during the WC.

•Wasim Akram's unbeaten 37 in 19 balls (S/r: 194.73 run per 100 balls) was one of the fastest individual innings played in the WC. India's Kapil Dev had scored 33 runs in 16 balls (S/r: 206.25) against New Zealand at Dunedin in the 1992 WC.

•Pakistan's total of 261-6 was the highest so far by any team inthis WC.

•Yousuf Youhana's unbeaten 81 was the best by a batsman against Scotland. Australia's Mark Waugh's 67 at Worcester on 16-5-1999 was previous best.

•Gavin Hamilton's 2-36 was the best bowling figures by a Scottish bowler in the WC. The previous best of 2-43 came from Nick Dyer against Australia at Worcester.

•In this match, the extras have created some dubious records. The 59 extras conceded by Scotland was not only a WC record but also a LOI record. Scotland bettered India's 51 extras against Zimbabwe on 19-5-1999. And equalled the LOI record of West Indies who had conceded 59 extras against Pakistan at Brisbane on 7-1-1989.

•Scotland has now conceded the maximum wides (33) by a team in a WC match. The previous record was held briefly by Zimbabwe when they conceded 24 against India on 19-5-1999. However Scotland fell short of LOI record of 37 which is still held by the West Indies against Pakistan at Brisbane on 7-1-1989.

•The sixth wicket partnership of 59 runs between Hamilton and James Brinkley was Scotland's second fifty-plus partnership. Interestingly, Scotland's best of 62 runs in their earlier match against Australia at Worcester just three ago came from the same pair of Hamilton and Brinkley and it was also for the sixth wicket.

•The partnership of 61 runs between Hamilton and Alec Davies was the highest ever for the seventh wicket by any team in the WC against Pakistan. The previous best was 48 between Australians Ross Edwards and Max Walker at Leeds in the 1975 WC.

•Guy Hamilton's 76 was the second highest individual score against Pakistan by a non-Test playing nation. The best still remains as 82 by Athar Ali Khan of Bangladesh at Colombo on 16-7-1997.

• Akram's three wickets takes his tally to 31 in 29 WC matches . He is now needs just four more to surpass fellow Pakistani Imran Khan, who has 34 wickets in 28 matches - the maximum wicket aggregate by any bowler in WC history.

•Shoaib Akhtar's 3-11 was the best figures against Scotland bettering Shane Warne's 3-39 in the earlier match against Australia at Worcester on 16-5-1999.

•The 96 extras in the match has now surpassed the previous highest for both LOI and WC. In the encounters between West Indies and Pakistan at Brisbane on 7-1-89 and Zimbabwe and India at Leicester on 19-5-1999 - the teams had conceded 90 extras each.

•The Man of the Match award was Yousuf Youhana's first of his career. He was playing in his 22nd LOI match.
