Statistical Highlights 4th match: Australia v Scotland at Worcester, 16-5-1999

•This match was the 1446th in Limited over international (LOI) history.

• This match was the 162nd in World Cup history (including the original abandoned match between these two teams at Patna in 1996).

• This match was Australia's 426th and Scotland's first in LOIs. Now both Australia and Pakistan has played in maximum LOI matches.

• This match was Australia's 38th in WC.

• Scotland became the 16th team to appear in LOIs and the 15th in WC to do so.

• The County Ground, New Road at Worcester was hosting its only second LOI match. The last match was played way back during the 1983 World Cup when West Indies met Zimbabwe on 13-6-1983.

• All the eleven players for Scotland were making their debut in LOIs. Incidentally two of the Scotish players were born in Pakistan. Wicket-keeper Alec Davies was born at Rawalpindi in 1962 and Asim Butt at Lahore in 1967. Scotland's vice-captain Iain Philip, who will be 41 years on 9th June, was the oldest player of this tournament. Just for the record, Dutch player (and West Indian born) Nolan Clarke was 47 years and 241 days when he appeared for the first time in the 1996 WC. At 20 years and 133 days, John Blain is the youngest among Scotland players. He was also the captain of the Scotland Under-19 team for the 1998 Junior World Cup in South Africa.

• New Zealand's Steve Dunne was officiating in his 70th LOI match, while England's Peter Willey was umpiring in his 9th match.

• Steve Waugh's wicket of Salmond was his 25th in his 24th WC. He becomes the ninth bowler in WC history to do so. Among Australians only Craig McDermott has more wickets than Waugh - 27.

• Shane Warne's 3-39 just fails to beat the existing best at this venue of 3-36 by West Indian Andy Roberts in 1983.

• Scotland's total of 181-7 was the lowest total at this venue in LOIs. The previous lowest being Zimbabwe's 217-7 in 60 overs against West Indies in 1983.

• Playing in his 182nd match Australian Mark Waugh won his 16th Man of the match award. It was also his fourth in 13 WC matches.
