Rain threatens to spoil crucial India-Pakistan match

The rain-soaked outfield at Old Trafford, Manchester After the crowds, it's now the typical English weather that threatens to disrupt the much-awaited clash between subcontinental giants India and Pakistan at the Old Trafford, Manchester.

The downpour in the textile city has soaked the outfield, threatening the abandonment of the game touted as the mother of all matches in the World Cup.

Further showers are expected around the ground, which might eventually force the crucial tie to be called off.

Earlier, fears of serious violence in the stands between Indian and Pakistani fans during the game had cast a shadow over the match.

With hostility between the two countries over Kashmir at a peak, security for the match has been further tightened by the Manchester police and the Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Though the two captains have tried their utmost to play down the animosity between the two countries, it is evident that for the fans, the titanic clash is nothing short of a war.

But now a cloud literally hangs over it.
