Replying to Ireland's 221/9, Zimbabwe apparently took their victory for granted.
Our expert too reckoned that Zimbabwe would win because he estimated that Zimbabwe would score 245 if they were to play the full 50 overs.
At the 10th, 20th, 30th and 40th over stage, Zimbabwe were comfortably ahead with PI values, respectively, of 70, 66, 87 and 86. After 45 overs, the PI was a mere 46.
How Zimbabwe failed to go past the post after being in such a commanding position will be a mystery of the 2007 World Cup.
