Zimbabwe matches to go ahead
January 30, 2003 21:59 IST
England's World Cup match in Zimbabwe will not be moved to South Africa, the International Cricket Council said on Thursday.
England's February 13 fixture in Harare will go ahead along with the other five matches scheduled in Zimbabwe, the ICC announced after a tele-conference.
"The ICC is not a political organisation and does not make judgement on political isssues," ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed said.
The two matches to be played in Kenya will also be held as scheduled, Speed added.
England and Australia have expressed their reluctance to tour the trouble-torn country for their World Cup matches citing security and moral concerns.
However, India and Pakistan -- the other Test-playing teams schedule to tour Zimbabwe -- have not voiced any concern over playing in that country.
