Message: I will say a big NO. You can never depend upon a single bowler, who is already injured. Let him be a good bowler. But, what happend to the rest? Even with the so called "BIG BATTING STRENGHTH" Indians lost to Windies very badly. I don't know how Indians are dreaming for the W.Cup'03. Firt they should produce 2-3 best bowlers, then they can dream anything. We should remember that the strenghth of Aussies and S.Africans are really bowling side.

Message: In my view, India does have a descent Bowling attack, the only thing the Indian Thinktank need to take care of is the right combination in every match. Javagal Srinath has got the loads of Experience in playing in South African conditions. This would be his last World Cup, and therefore he needs to give it a real good shot. Ashish Nehra needs to be a bit more consistent with his bowling. Same goes with Agarkar. On his day he can be lethal. The important thing is Lethal days need to come bit more consistently. Now, on a pitch which favours fast bowling, Ganguly needs to decide the Final Four, in Bowling. Srinath, Zaheer, Harbhajan & Agarkar OR Nehra in place of Agarkar. Whichever Combination he plays Zaheer OR Agarkar should be Bowling Five of the last Ten overs. Both Agarkar and Zaheer can bowl wonderful Reverse Swings with the Old Ball. Srinath should be starting the proceedings for the side. Every thing depends on DECIDING THE RIGHT COMBINATION.

Message: I think India should really focus on selecting the right bowlers for next year's World Cup. The batting does not seem to be a cause of concern for the team; but it is the bowling. There is no doubt that Zaheer Khan will be our main weapon in the bowling attack. He needs an efficient partner to bowl from the other end. Ashish Nehra has done a commendable job in the recent NatWest Series in England but has looked unimpressive ever since. We really need to focus on this situation. Both Harbhajan and Anil Kumble should train hard and give it their best for the tournament. Taking along Murali Kartik will not be a bad idea as he has bowled brilliantly in the last couple matches against the West Indies. Once the bowling concern is taken care of, India will be the team to beat in the World Cup 2003. Best of luck to our Indian team!!!

Message: India does have the potential withing themselves with bowlers such as Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinanth but the consistency should always be there. The likes of McGrath and Gillespie are the ones that batsmen are petrified of, there knees start to tremble and this is the psycholigcal benefit the Indians dont have.

Message: We can do well with Zaheer in the lineup.. but just Well is not going to be enough .. Its the WOrLD CUP!! we need Srinath and zaheer in top form . I Know srinath looks like a old horse .. but we cant help it. we have to relie on him .. Nehara looks like a waste .. he is the worst fielder too.. about Agarkar we should get over him as a bowler. someone in Rediff had writen a good article about "Avarages" he said agarkar's bowling cost india 52 runs per innings, and that too from a bowler who has played more than 100 one days . Agarkar's bowling is a big sorry story. The new JP YAdav is also a big flop show. gentle medium pace is effective only if it is right on target.. srinath ,zaheer,some third medium pace (i dont know who.. may be nehara because of no options) and Bhajji,Kartik should be our main line up. and if we discover some better pace man then drop kartik and take him, because second spin bowler can be made out of shevag,tendlya,yuvraj,kaif(??). The More Important issue should be wicketkeeping. I dont understand why people are supporting Dravid as keeper ???? Its rediculous that such a important place in team is compromised.. Its not just the byes that are a worry.. its the catches/stumping/run out chances that are very important.. Batters like Hayden,Pointing,Inzi,Kalis dont give number of opportunities.. so we cant , just cant afford to miss the rare opportunity that they give .. It would be a disastar if dravid is to keep wickets for WC.. a specialist keeper is a MUST . bowlers will also get some confidence back with that. Dravid is still a necessary man in the batting lineup. Sehwag,saurav,sachin,yuvraj,kaif,dravid,parthiv,Bhajji,Zaheer,srinath,?? should be the team !

Your views:India should relyon zaheer ,harbajan and kumble...kumble had performed well in south african tracks....even agarkar has done well at South Africa...he is a pretty useful batsman in the higher order....whatever may be the team,it is always better to open with sachin and sehwag and i think ganguly should bat down the order.laxman is a good stroke player too....yuvraj and kaif should learn to play well when indians are striggling in the slog overs.Kaif is pretty good...but yuvraj,i think should play an responsible innings...we have a good batting line up...the team should relyon kumble,harbhajan,zaheer,agarkar and nehra and srinath i think will not provide the needful in the southafrican pitch...Thanx for the oppertunity given to me.... Message: i think zaheer is a good bowler but the rest of the fast bowlers i.e. srinath, agarkar and nehra are too inconsistent. oneday they could be devastating for the opposition but the other they coud be helpless. they need to concentrate on line and length and dont try too much.

Message: lets face it . if you remove srinath and zaheer khan from the scene and India is going to go down in a whimper inspite of the batting might. Bowlers win matches. So a suggestion would be to try a new string all together .The Agarkars Kumbles are not reliable . Their recent records speak about it. People like Yohanan, Venkatesh Prasad ( purely on the basis of his record in SA) should be given another chance and a good long one at that.

Message: There is no point in dreaming of winning the world cup, without a proper bowling attack. India ia very much deficient in this area and needs to go a long way in improving it when compared to teams like Australia, South Africa. It will be a day dream, winning the world cup only with batting. See the recent oneday series with West Indies. they have clearly exploited ans showed the world where India lacks. Thats bowling. I read many articles in rediff like bring the Aussies. Well one thing we have to remember, just by writing articles like that India will not win the World Cup. The team has to perform. The Indian team is not even able to defend totals around 290 with a team like West Indies. Indian team has to go a long way. Just by winning one match in Ahmedabad, scoring above 325. cannot make us a very good team. Ask the Indians to defend the same by batting first. India cant defend such a huge total. Thats the truth. We dont even think practically. First let us try to save the oneday series with the westindies. Then we can talk aboout the worldcup.

Message: Yes and No! Yes because Zaheer, Sri and Harbhajan are quality bowlers. NO because Agarakr is really useless. India lost in the last world cup because of agarkar. Don't do it again. Kumble should only be used as a backup for Harbhajan. So we are deficient of two quality bowlers. I guess Ganguly or Banagr can do 5th bowlers job. We need a first change fast bowler.. Can we get it??Pl. don't say Agarkar.

All the bowlers stated above are being seen by all the major teams in the world cup . so it would be strong point for india to pick up a couple of more strong bowlers from indian cricket.

Message: Well, for the forthcoming WC, india needs to have a trio pace battery and a solo spinner. srinath, zaheer and agarkar can be a good combination as agarkar can be useful with the bat at times. Its better dravid keeps wickets as we shall strengthen the batting line up. i would preferably like to see sachin batting either as an opener or at no.3, followed by laxman,dravid,yuvraj,kaif, agarkar,harbhajan,srinath and zaheer. Bangar can be replaced in at times either with agarkar or with srinath as he can be useful middle order batsman like he was recently at the match in ahmedabad. lastly, try not to include ashish nehra in the final 11 as the way he is performing at the moment can be really disastrous. also, personally i feel his run-up looks like a staggering strain ready to jump off from the tracks.
