An audiotape broadcast by the Arabic language Al Arabiya television channel has deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein mourning the death of his two sons -- Uday and Qusay -- at the hands of US forces at Mosul.

The authenticity of the tape, however, was not confirmed.

Uday and Qusay Hussein were killed on July 22 during a six-hour gunbattle.

The tape was released hours after US troops conducted raids in Tikrit, Saddam's ancestral hometown, and captured one of his leading bodyguards and two associates.

The Associated Press identified the captured bodyguard as Adnan Abdullah Abid al-Musslit.

Also captured, according to the CNN, was a brigadier general, believed to be a top official of the Fedayeen Saddam.
