Non-American elements have captured Saddam Hussein's half-brother, Watban Ibrahim Hasan al-Tikriti, near the Syrian border, US officials said on Sunday.

Tikriti has been turned over to the US military, they told Reuters. 

Saddam's half-brother from his mother's second marriage, he was a presidential adviser. But he was not close to Saddam, the officials added.
