About 3,000 Pakistanis are believed to be held captive under less than ideal conditions in Afghanistan, Pakistan's human rights commission said, adding it has begun compiling a list of Pakistanis missing in Afghanistan.
The commission believes that the practice of demanding ransom is restricted only to small-time warlords.
The ransom amount could go up to $5,000 for a prisoner, it said.
