The White House on Wednesday said preliminary tests on 120 White House mail workers have turned up negative for anthrax.
"No positive tests have come back," presidential spokesman Ari Fleischer said.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that a White House mail facility had tested positive for a trace amount of anthrax.
Traces of anthrax were found on a mail-opening machine at the facility, prompting officials to test 150 people who work at or had visited the remote site, and another 50 employees who handle mail distribution at the White House.
Fleischer said all 120 results returned so far were negative, but that results were not yet in for the remaining 80 people.
All of those tested were given Cipro, an antibiotic used to treat anthrax, he added.
Meanwhile, the Bush administration said it had agreed to buy 100 million tablets of Cipro.
The government will make an initial purchase worth $95 million, according to the department of health and human services.
