The Matangeshwara Temple, in the western group. is worth a visit because it is the only temple still used for worship. The Parswanath temple, in the eastern group, has some of the finest tableaux of everyday life. A tour of these temples -- sexy apsaras in loving embrace, goddesses reclining, divinity enjoying their existence -- brings the realisation that perhaps the real purpose of Khajuraho was to underline one of the Hindu beliefs, which is to celebrate life.
