It is important to remember that business hours in Calcutta are short. Offices open late and lunch breaks are long and shut promptly in the evening. Therefore the optimum hour for completing any sort of work -- postal errands, tourist office enquiries, airline reservations -- is usually 11:00-12:00. Most key offices are located in a kilometre's radius of the Chowringhee (the new name is J L Nehru Road) and Park Street:
