The South dominates the Indian side

The 14-member Indian squad for the forthcoming four-nation Pepsi
Asia Cup in Sri Lanka comprises six players from the South Zone,
three each from the West and East Zones, and two from the North Zone.
As in the recent past, the South
Zone continues to dominate the squad.
The squad comprise four players who have represented the country in more
than a hundred one day matches -- namely, former captain Mohammad
Azharuddin (245 games), skipper Sachin Tendulkar (150),
vice-captain Anil Kumble (120) and veteran Navjot Singh Sidhu
(111).
Azharuddin is the highest run-getter, with
a tally of 6,701 runs at an average of 36.22 and Kumble is the
highest wicket-taker, with 167 victims, at a rate of 26.29 runs
a piece. Apart from Kumble and Venkatesh Prasad, no other bowler
in the side has captured more than 50 wickets in limited-over
cricket.
Though bowlers are found wanting, the squad is
rich in the batting department with six specialists batsmen in
Azharuddin, Tendulkar, Sidhu, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly and
Ajay Jadeja.
