Brazil, who have won penalty shoot-outs in each of the last two World Cups, may not be so optimistic of a repeat this year after their players missed eight spot-kicks in a training match on Wednesday.
The amazing sequence in the game between the first team and the reserves began in the 10th minute when a penalty was awarded for the senior side.
Paris St Germain's Ronaldinho fired his shot over the crossbar and coach Luiz Felipe Scolari ordered another player to have a go, only to see Ronaldo miss as well.
Rivaldo then tried his luck and hit the post before Juninho's effort was saved by goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni. At that point, Scolari lost patience and ordered the game to continue.
But the first team were emulated by their opponents in the second half as Denilson, Luizao, Edilson and Kleberson all failed to convert from the spot.
The first team went on to win 4-1.
Despite Wednesday's horrendous effort, Brazil have a good record in World Cup shoot-outs, winning both the 1994 final against Italy and the 1998 semi-final against the Netherlands on penalties.
Brazil's first choice goalkeeper Marcos, who saved three of the four shots taken by the reserve team, has helped his club Palmeiras win a number of games on penalties, including the South American Libertadores Cup final in 1999.
