Paes moves into third round at US Open

The last time the two players met was at Frejus, in France. On that occasion, the two were playing for their respective countries - and Leander Paes defeated Arnaud Boetsch of France then, to give his country the palm in the Davis Cup encounter.

This time round, it was one on one, in the second round of the US Open. The verdict, however, was the same - a 6-4, 6-0, 2-1 win for Leander, with Boetsch retiring in the third set though, by then, the outcome was a pretty foregone conclusion.

Earlier, teaming up with Davis Cup-mate Mahesh Bhupati, Paes won through into the second round of the doubles competition defeating Wayne Arthurs of Australia and Alexander Kitinov of Macedonia, 6-4, 6-4.
