Prakash proposes compromise with BAI
The newly-formed Indian Badminton
Confederation on Thursday suggested a merger with the
Badminton Association of India, in a bid to resolve the
ongoing tussle between them.
IBC supremo and former All England
Open champion Prakash Padukone suggested to his BAI counterpart V K
Verma that the two organisations 'merge to form a new governing body.'
This offer came close on the heels of Padukone's discussion with
International Badminton Federation vice-president Punch Gunalan in
Madras on August 4.
Reiterating the IBC would continue with its programme as
scheduled, Padukone announced that its first general body meeting
would be held in Bangalore on August 31.
He emphasised that all his actions as IBC president would be guided by the
interests of Indian badminton and its players.
Interestingly, both the organisations have already announced
their calendar for the year. The BAI had even conducted a
tournament in New Delhi.
