Armaan Ebrahim had a frustrating time at the Formula Renault V6 race in Indonesia, finishing third in the first race but forced out of the second due to a hydraulic failure caused by a weak engine.

Armaan went into the race without a new engine and it proved to be his undoing at the Sentul circuit which is full of long straights.

The Chennai driver qualified fourth on the grid and in Race one he managed to finish third and secure a few points to keep himself in contention for the championship.

In Race two, Armaan was lying third by lap four but the gearbox started to play up and by lap 14, his hydraulic systems failed which in turn led to a gearbox failure and the car was stuck in third gear giving the Indian no other option but to pull aside and let all the other cars pass.

"It was a frustrating weekend. I knew we were on the back foot from the start as the engine was really down on power. My goal was to collect as many points as I could and hope that we find the budget for a new engine before the next race.

"That was exactly what we did in Race one, but unfortunately, the hydraulics packed up in Race two which was really disappointing as a second-place finish was on the cards," Armaan said.

He said he desperately needs assistance to get a new engine in order to stay in contention in the championship.

"I really have to make a decision if I have to continue in this championship if I do not find the funds to get a new engine. Hopefully we do find some support or else I will have no alternative but to pull out as I am like a sitting duck on the straights and almost 9km slower on each straight which accounts for almost 1 second a lap," he said.
