Top Russian player and world number 21, Vera Zvonareva, would participate in the Bangalore Open, to be held from March three to nine.
Having lost the finals in three sets at Doha last week to compatriot Maria Sharapova [Images], Zvonareva has decided to take short break before she heads to Bangalore for the tournament.
"It has been a great week for me in Doha. Of course I wish I could do better in the finals, but I still have lots of things to work on.But no matter what,I am glad I am improving with every match and it was great to make a final in the first event after I was injured in Australia. I will spend a couple of days in Moscow [Images] relaxing and get ready for Bangalore," she said in a statement.
"I am excited about going to India, especially since I have never played there. I will try to play my best there", the Russian player said.
Zvonarava has won five WTA tour singles titles, four WTA tour Doubles titles and two ITF Women's Circuit Singles titles. Her first slam quarter final came at the 2002 French open when she defeated Venus Williams [Images] in the fourth round.
She won the US Open women's doubles in 2006 partnering Nathalie Dechy of France [Images].With Andy Ram of Israel as her partner, she won the mixed doubles in the US Open in 2004 and the 2006 Wimbledon mixed doubles.
Other top players that this $ 600,000 II WTA event has attracted include the William sister, Venus and Serena, Patty Schnyder, Jelena Jankovic and Agnes Szavay.
