Ace Indian long jumper Anju Bobby George's season got off to a fine start as she clinched a silver medal at the Asian Indoors Athletics Championship in Doha on Thursday.
Anju's silver was India's first medal on the opening day of the championships before MA Prajusha added another by winning the bronze medal -- her maiden international medal -- in the same event with a jump of 6.09m.
Anju started with a modest distance of 6.01m but after few more checks on the runway she jumped to 6.33m in the second attempt.
Adding 3cm in the third attempt, Anju's fifth jump was 6.38m but the Indian lost her lead to Chinese Chen Yaling in the final attempt, which came to 6.37m.
Anju had to be content with the second place with 6.38m while Yaling won the contest with 6.39m.
