A last minute penalty-corner conversion by V Raghunath salvaged a 2-2 draw for India against Australia in the four-nation hockey tournament in Perth on Thursday.
India looked destined for their second successive defeat in the competition, after a 1-4 drubbing at the hands of South Korea on Wednesday, before Raghunath saved the day.
Joaquim Carvalho's boys took the lead when William Xalxo converted a penalty-corner in the 27th minute. But two field goals in as many minutes by Grant Schubert halfway through the second half changed the complexion of the match.
Australia had beaten China 2-1 in their first match while today's other game saw China and South Korea play out a 2-2 draw.
India, who have one point from two games, take on China on Saturday while the Aussies take on the South Koreans.
India, currently at the foot of the table, need to beat China to have any chance of making it to Sunday's final.
