Defending champions the Netherlands were off to a good start in the 29th men's Champions Trophy men's hockey tournament, that got underway in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday. They scored a comfortable 4-0 win over Great Britain.

Two goals from Rob Reckers and one each from Ronald Brouwer and Teun de Nooijer ensured the eight-time champions started their campaign on a positive note.

The Dutch looked in good touch and played up to a level that carried them to the European title earlier this year.

In other matches, eight-time winners and World champions Germany [Images] thrashed Pakistan 5-2 while Olympic champions Australia, who have also won the tournament on eight occasions, had a comfortable 2-0 win over hosts Malaysia.

2005 winners Spain were held to a 2-2 draw by South Korea despite leading 2-1 at the break.
