Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy [Images] said that his two goals in Real Madrid's [Images] 5-1 thrashing of Dynamo Kiev were the perfect way to cap a memorable day that began with him becoming a father.

"It has been an unbelievable day for me," the former Manchester United [Images] player told Real Madrid television.

"I didn't get much sleep last night and it has been a long day after hooking up with the team. But I couldn't be happier right now. I told my wife that I'd score tonight and in the end I got two."

The 30-year-old spent much of the night with his wife, who gave birth to a baby girl at 1am local time, and his participation in the match was in doubt up until the last minute.

His decision to play paid off when he gave Real the lead after 20 minutes and he completed the win with a penalty.
