Advani leads Indian challenge

Former champion Pankaj Advani will lead the Indian challenge in the IBSF World Snooker Championships to be held in Amman, Jordan from November 4-15.

Advani, who is only the second player to have won both the world snooker and billiards titles, will be accompanyied by Manan Chandra while Yasin Merchant will be the reserve player, Billiards and Snooker Federation vice-president R K Tandon said on Wednesday.

Anuja Thakur, the first woman cueist to win the Arjuna award this year, and Vidya Pillay will represent the country in the ladies section in the event.

In the Masters category, Geet Sethi and Devendra Joshi will vie for honours top honours after winning the title in the USA.
