Saina Nehwal [Images] stormed into the girls' singles quarter-finals at the World Junior Badminton Championship after thrashing Soo Young Jang of Korea in straight games, in Incheon, South Korea, on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old world number 32-ranked Indian carved out a 21-17, 21-16 victory in 31 minutes to move to the last eight, where she will face China's Liu Jie.
Jie got the better of Mizuki Fuzii of Japan [Images], winning 21-10, 21-9 in just 27 minutes.
In the boys' singles, India's lone contender Srujan Nandaluri bowed out in the pre-quarter-finals, going down to top seed Kenichi Tago of Japan 10-21, 19-21.
In the boys' doubles, Jishnu Sanyal and Akshay Diwalkar also moved into the quarter-finals after defeating the English pair of Marcus Ellis and Liew Victor 21-15, 21-12 in 25 minutes.
