The Mumbai [Images] serial blasts continued to take a toll on Indo-Pak sporting ties as the Pakistan gymnastic team has been denied visas for the Asian Championship in Surat [Images].
Manager of Pakistani gymnastic squad told the organisers that they cannot participate in the event as they have been denied visas, Secretary of Gymnastic Federation of India Kansingh Rathore told PTI over phone from Mumbai.
A seven-member Pakistani contingent including two officials and five players were to visit Surat for the event starting on Saturday at Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya Indoor Stadium.
Rathore said invitation was sent to Pakistan after receiving clearance from government of India.
"However, it seems that the blasts that took place in Mumbai have resulted in denial of visas to Pakistani players. The officials are not giving any reasons for denial of visas," he added.
The Asian Gymnastic Championship is being held for the first time in India and the other 18 teams have arrived in Surat for the event.
Earlier, a bilateral Kabaddi and Snooker tournament was deferred indefinitely.
After the serial blasts in suburban trains of Mumbai on July 11 the central government has toughened its stance on the neighbouring country.
The centre had earlier postponed foreign secretary level talks between the two countries.
