Leander Paes [Images] and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia and Montenegro stormed into the quarter-finals of the men's doubles at the French Open on Sunday.

The sixth seeds defeated the Czech Republic pair of Frantisek Cermak and Leos Friedl 7-6 (7/5), 6-4.

They now face third seeds Mike and Bob Bryan of the United States for a place in the semi-finals.

Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] and his American partner Lisa Raymond booked their place in the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles after defeating Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia and Todd Woodbridge of Australia [Images] 7-5, 7-6 (7/4) in the second round.

In the junior championships, Vivek Shokeen put up a strong challenge before bowing out in the boys' singles first round.

Shokeen battled two hours and 24 minutes before losing 7-6(6), 5-7, 3-6 to German Jochen Schottler.

Shokeen was let down by poor serving while Schottler fired 10 aces and won 52 of the 84 points on first serve.

Sanam Singh too was made to bite the dust in the first round with a 1-6, 3-6 defeat to Gianluca Naso of Italy [Images].

Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan remains the only Indian contender for the boys' singles title.
