More than two months after slipping into coma following a head injury, polo player Shivraj Singh has come out of it, the doctor attending to him said on Tuesday.
"Singh is much better and came out of coma medically yesterday. He is opening his eyes, moving his limbs on his own and breathing naturally," neurosurgeon Dr Suneel N Shah, who is attending to the player at Bombay Hospital, said.
"The player is not in a position to speak because of trachaeotomy (opening in the windpipe) and we will be removing it shortly," Shah said, adding, he is also able to sit on a wheel chair.
"He has been improving steadily in the last two months."
Singh, the 27-year-old scion of the erstwhile Jodhpur [Images] royal family, had fallen from horse on February 18 while playing at Jaipur [Images]. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital and later flown to Mumbai for treatment.
