Pakistan came back from a goal down to hold India to a 1-1 draw in the first football match at the Ayub Stadium in Quetta on Sunday.

After a dull and aimless first half in which players from both the sides struggled for ball possession, India broke the deadlock in the 65th minute when striker Sunil Chetri put the visitors in front.

Pakistan, who until India found the cage appeared keen to play a goalless draw, increased the momentum and started their search for the equaliser that came 12 minutes before hooter when Mohammad Essa's 40-yard free kick found the back of the net.

The second match of this historic series will be played in Peshawar on Thursday, June 16.
