Sania Mirza [Images] moved into the second round of the USD 585,000 WTA Tour event in Stanford, USA.
The Indian ace defeated wild card Eleni Daniilidou of Germany [Images] 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3 in the first round match on Tuesday.
She will now face second seed Venus Williams [Images], who has a bye in the first round.
Earlier, Sania earned a main draw entry as a lucky loser, after a heartbreaking defeat in a thrilling final qualifying round to Israeli Shahar Peer on Monday.
