James became the youngest player in NBA history to register a triple-double when he collected 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as the Cavaliers beat Portland 107-101 on Wednesday.

The performance by the 20-year-old eclipsed the 1999 record of the Los Angeles Clippers's Lamar Odom by 34 days.

"It's one of many to come, I'm sure," Cavaliers coach Paul Silas said of James's record-breaker.

However James tried to play down his performance.

"It's a relief," the second-year player told reporters. "It feels great, especially when we get a win with it. It makes it extra sweet."

James was especially strong in the game's final quarter when he scored 11 points, making all five of his shots and adding three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

"He's a helluva player," Portland's Ruben Patterson said. "I didn't know he could shoot jump shots like that."
