Harsh Mankad's charge in the US $ 25,000 LTA Spring ATP Challenger in Nottingham was brought to a halt by Czech Robin Vik on Friday. The sixth seed beat Mankad 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinal of the tournament.
The Indian Davis Cupper, having collected 22 points from the event, was hardly stretched throughout the week as he registered straight-sets win in all his previous matches. But on Friday, Mankad could not stand up to the challenge on the 23-year-old Czech.
Vik will square up with local hope Jonathan Marray in the title clash.
In a consolation win, Mankad along with Mustafa Ghouse upset the top seeded American team of Justin Gimelstob and Brandon Coupe 6-2, 6-2 to enter the final of the doubles event.
The Indians, seeded fourth, will face the unseeded British pair of Mark Hilton and Marray in the final, who beat the second seeds Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana of Thailand 5-7, 7-6, 7-4 in their semifinal tie.
