The Spanish team will be visiting India for the first time in eight years. The last time they toured India was in 1996, when they played in the Indira Gandhi Gold Cup hockey tournament.

The Spaniards, coached by Dutchman Maurits Hendrlis, finished fourth in the Athens Olympics. They were also runners-up in the last European Championship, in Barcelona.

The team will reach India on November 26 before heading for Chandigarh for the Tests. They will leave for Lahore, venue of the December 4-12 Champions Trophy, on December 1.

The Indian contingent is currently undergoing training in Chandigarh under the supervision of chief coach Gerhard Rach and his deputy Jagbir Singh.
